On Sunday 30 April George Taylor was among a party of British troops at Jacob’s Biscuit Factory. A detail of twelve soldiers were in St Patrick’s Park opposite the factory. As they left the park the man leading them was shot.
The Lance Corporal took the lead through the gate. As soon as he got through he was wounded in the shoulder.
The soldiers were ordered to line up opposite the factory and to fire one round each at the top windows of the building. Shortly after this the men occupying the factory under the command of Thomas MacDonagh surrendered.
George Taylor was interviewed for the television series 'Ireland A Television History', 11 July 1979.
