With the General Post Office burning it became obvious that the fight was coming to an end. On the second floor of the building Tom Clarke, Seán MacDiarmada, Diarmuid Lynch, Seán McGarry and Eamon Dore sat down for a final meal. Eamon Dore, recalls his memories of that event and the demeanour of the group.
Eamon Dore asked Tom Clarke what he would like to do if the Rising was a success?
“I’d get a small cottage with a a big wall around it and I would grow flowers”.
Eamon Dore was attached to ‘B’ Company, 1st Battalion, Dublin Brigade, Irish Volunteers.
Eamon Dore was interviewed for 'On Behalf of the Provisional Government : Thomas Clarke' broadcast on Telefís Éireann 10 April 1966, Photograph of interior of the GPO courtesy of RTÉ Archives, Murtagh Collection.
