Stella Archer had only recently began working as a Girl Probationer in the General Post Office. She had cycled into work on Easter Monday morning and left her bicycle in the basement. Recalling the moment the Volunteers occupied the building she says there was,
A great commotion down on the street below… Everybody was very anxious to know what was happening.
Soon after a group of Volunteers entered the Instrument Room where Stella and her colleagues were and told them to leave immediately. Stella asked if she could get her bicycle from the basement but she was refused. Although she never did see her bicycle again, Stella did receive compensation for her loss.
Stella Archer was later a member of the Colmcille Branch, Cumann na mBan.
Stella Archer was interviewed for the television series 'Ireland A Television History' in 1979.
