Take your seat in the Mansion House where the day will be made up of two very different sessions. In the morning, our guests will be examining life in 1916 – from the cradle to the grave – while our afternoon session will reflect on and discuss “Remembering the Rising”.
The day will begin with an introduction from the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Críona Ní Dhálaigh. Speakers in the morning will include Dr Rhona Mahony, Master of the National Maternity Hospital at Holles Street, Catriona Crowe, Head of Special Projects at the National Archives of Ireland, and historians Mark Duncan and Lindsay Earner Byrne.
The afternoon, which is chaired by John Bowman, will include a keynote address by President Michael D. Higgins, and speakers Diarmaid Ferriter, Bríona Nic Dhiarmada, Kevin Whelan and Professor Mary E. Daly.
