Margaret Skinnider was a member of the Stephen’s Green/College of Surgeons garrison. On Thursday 27 April, she was part of a group sent by Commandant Michael Mallin to set fire to the Russell Hotel in order to dislodge a British machine gun post in the University Church. As they approached the party were fired on by soldiers in a building on Harcourt Street and Skinnider was wounded.
I was found to have three bullet wounds, one a quarter of an inch from my spine.
Fred Ryan of the Irish Citizen Army was killed.
Margaret Skinnider was a member of the Glasgow Branch, Cumann na mBan and was attached to the Irish Citizen Army during the Rising.
